November Checklist for SAHMs with ADHD

Hey guys! Welcome to November!

As promised, here’s the list of things to consider as we head into the new month! I hope it helps.

Remember, if it’s all important, none of it is important. Go through this list and decide what doesn’t matter to you. Then decide what DOES matter.

Good luck!

Seasonal Celebrations and Events

  • Nov 1 Dia de los Muertos/ Nov 2, all souls day
  • Nov 4 – book lover’s day (as if I needed a reason to buy another book)
  • Nov 7 Elections
  • Nov 10 Veterans Day
  • Big Football Games 🙂
  • Nov 24 Thanksgiving – figure out where you’re going, what you’re serving, etc. etc.
  • for a fun hyperfocus, go to this link and look at all the other fun November holidays to focus on!
  • Birthdays (people with holiday birthdays are often forgotten, so this is really important).
  • Hosting a Holiday Party? Need to send out invites or save the dates?

Home and Safety

  • Making sure your furnace/HVAC and water heater are good to go for snow and cold weather.
  • Winter tires.
  • De-icer for the driveway and sidewalks.
  • Empty exterior faucets and cover them for winter.
  • Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms.
  • Get your chimney/wood stove checked.
  • Changing your air filter.

Food and Meal Preparation Preshopping for holiday meals.

  • Hard-to-get items – buy them now (think TP before the pandemic, but actually it’s a run on cool whip and those dried fruit that go into your holiday bread)
  • If you’re brave enough to introduce something new in December, try it in November to see how it goes.
  • When you meal plan, maybe make some freezable selections, like pre-freeze some ground turkey if you can handle that texture or make some freezer meals now, so when the frenzy of the holidays happen you can have some non-takeout options for quick meals.

Financial and Administrative Tasks

  • Property taxes.
  • An oil change.
  • Medical appointments.
  • Flu shots if you haven’t gotten them yet.
  • Arranging childcare or planning activities if you have kids who are normally at school but may have a winter break.
  • Teacher gifts are coming
  • Making (or declining) holiday plans (it’s important to do this early).

Personal Well-being and Community Engagement

  • Preholiday haircuts.
  • Plan in some rest time – block it in the calendar now.
  • Find one thing or way to serve your community.
  • Four F’s of Fall: Family, Football, Food and Friends.
